MICROCARRIER TM GEL NOTE: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION APPLICATION MRC GUARANTEE
Cat. No. MG 122
Store at 4 C.
These products have been replaced by PolyAcryl Carrier (cat. no. PC 152).
MicrocarrierTM Gel is an ultra pure, RNase-free,
DNase-free polysaccharide gel designed specifically for use in the precipitation of small
amounts of RNA and DNA. Composed of predominantly high-molecular weight polymer of a-D-glucose, MicrocarrierTM
Gel does not affect the activities of enzymes used for analysis of DNA and RNA such as
restrictases, reverse transcriptase, Taq polymerase, DNA polymerase or ligase. When stored
at 4 C, MicrocarrierTM Gel can be used as a
co-precipitant of nucleic acids for at least one year. The shelf-life can be extended
beyond one year by storage at -20 C.
Add 2-10 µl of MicrocarrierTM Gel per 1.0 ml of RNA or
DNA solution. Briefly mix the solution and carry out precipitation by adding NaCl to a
final concentration of 0.2 M, followed by 2.5 volumes of ethanol. Store the solution at
room temperature for 5-10 minutes and sediment the DNA precipitate at 3,000 g and the RNA
precipitate at 10,000 g for 10 minutes at 4 C. Dissolve the precipitate by repetitive
pipeting in DEPC-treated water or other solubilizing medium.
